If there’s one thing to know about me it’s that I LOVE traditions. Not traditions in the sense of stifling rules with no meaning. But tradition in the sense of family fun that you get to look forward to every year.
Ever since I was a child my family has always had a number of traditions that we took part in every year. My family was (and still is) extremely close and we would go on a lot of different trips and outings together.
It makes my heart so happy that even into adulthood this closeness remains inside our family. My brother is married and has four children. Myself and Cyle are married and also have four children. And our sister, grandparents, and parents have all stayed in the area!
This means that we see each other a lot for weekly family lunch, birthday’s, holidays, and all these fun traditions.
One of our traditions is that every year we go to the pumpkin patch at the end of October. It’s a funny part of the tradition that we always talk about it the entire month of October and try to coordinate schedules. Yet somehow this little trip never gets planned until the day before we decide to go.
This year we just so happened to decide on a day for the pumpkin patch the morning after it snowed!! That’s right, in good ol’ Iowa we get snow in October. The kids didn’t seem to mind one bit though, as they went on their merry little way petting the animals, playing on the equipment, and picking out their pumpkins. These cousins always have the best time when they’re together.
Enjoy our brisk snowy trip to the pumpkin patch this year!
