Taylor & Chris’ wedding is our very first wedding of 2020, and boy did we start the year off with a bang!
I knew during Taylor & Chris’ engagement session that we were going to have an absolute blast during their wedding day. After both telling stories of our families we found out that Taylor and I have very similar families; in that they are loud, rowdy, fun, and they like to rib each other for fun!
Immediately upon entering Taylor’s parents room on the wedding day I felt like I was walking into a room filled with my own family and friends. Taylor’s dad; Klay, was the first one to greet me with the biggest of smiles.
After spending all of five minutes with him you could tell just how excited he was for his daughter’s wedding day!! He hung out with the girls just about as long as he could before he had to go get dressed. Then he had a first look with Taylor that was beautiful and perfect for them. He ooo’ed and ahhh’ed and was the happiest, most proud Dad I’ve seen.
Taylor’s mom; Julie, was so sweet while she was helping Taylor get into her dress and she was holding back tears as they gave each other the sweetest hug afterwards. It was so much fun having all of Taylor’s friends and family in the room to watch as she got ready for the big day!
Chris made his way downstairs to get ready for his first look with Taylor. He was so nervous standing the bottom of the stairs waiting for his bride to make her way to him.
Most Bride’s get to their Groom and excitedly tell him to turn around. Taylor did something hilarious that I absolutely love. She got right behind Chris; and knowing that he was nervous and was instructed NOT to turn around until she told him to- she said, “Hey! How you doing?! What have you been up to today?” That. That is my kinda girl right there.
Chris eventually was able to turn around and see his DROP DEAD beautifully smokin wife, and it was all love and laughter from there.
We made our way through Downtown Davenport with the entire Bridal Party. We took some photos at the Up Skybar (thanks so the very helpful beverage + food director that helped us out), and stopped along the way to take portraits. Now let me remind you that this is FEBRUARY in IOWA. I always love when my couples are willing to do whatever it takes for gorgeous portraits. Even if that means standing outside in 25 degrees with chilly wind blowing against your bare shoulders.
After portraits were done Taylor and Chris were able to spend the rest of their day enjoying their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception with all of their family and friends! (Just another reason that we LOVE first looks!)
