A Lakeside Backyard Wedding in DeWitt, Iowa

Claire & Ryan originally had a big traditional wedding planned, but eventually decided on a small intimate wedding in Ryan’s favorite place in the world; Claire’s Dad’s backyard. Claire’s dad lives in possibly the coolest place in the Quad Cities… a small private community with acres and acres of beautiful land and all of their back yards face a gorgeous lake that’s as picturesque as you’ve ever seen. It’s no mystery why this place holds such a special place in both Ryan and Claire’s hearts. Or why you would want to have your wedding overlooking such a magical place.

We all knew the day was going to be emotional is a sad way, but also in a very happy and joyful way. Claire’s family lost her mother a few years ago and it was evident just how loved and missed this sweet Mama was. From her ring that Claire wore on her finger all day, to the Eucalytpus crown that Claire donned (matching the one that her mother wore when she married her dad all those years ago), to the photos and place setting. We know that she was there watching and so happy for Claire and Ryan!

The day held many tears, a ton of laughter, and even two aunts sewing Claire into her dress not five minutes before the ceremony. The day was perfectly imperfect in every way and it was such a fun time to see Claire & Ryan’s family and close friends there to celebrate in their love. Enjoy a snippet of their day below!
